Our facilities and employees are skilled at making patients and their families feel at home for lengthy periods of time. Families can stay together in our on-site patient/family housing or apartments nearby that are accessible by foot. Evenings and weekends are frequently filled with hospital-sponsored activities and peer interaction, and our patients' families and patients have access to nearby amenities like laundry facilities, kitchens, gyms, leisure rooms, gardens, and local community amenities. For those who are reentering the community, there may be a gap into the unknown following medical care and therapy. By giving insight into what life could be like in the community and by sharing personal tales to give a glimpse into living with a disability, a peer mentor can close that gap. Working with a peer mentor may provide you the chance to collaborate with someone who is going through something similar in order to have a fulfilling life.
